And there you go...

Mason Wayne Abbott was born to Rose-Marie and David Abbott at 12:39 am on Dec 31 2007. He was 7lbs 2 oz and 20 1/2 inches. Congratulations on a new baby and a very short labor!!!! :)
My first labor and delivery experience was pretty bad in comparison to the last two people in my family (not counting myself) Sarah and Rose Marie had short labors, short pushing times and had a GREAT doctor (same one). I am so glad for them, as for me...I guess it really makes a difference who your doctor is... or maybe my body was just not cut out for the whole labor and delivery process.... Anyway, 5 babies born in 2007 for my immediate family (both sides)!!!! Hurray for babies and cousins that will all be in the same Sunday school class and different graduating classes! Hehehehe.

We are going to have another baby!!

Rose Marie (Carlos' sister) has been admitted into the hospital this evening so it is just a matter of time before we hear the news! We will update as we know more! She is about 2 weeks early...looks like they will get that tax break this year :).

These days

I have really enjoyed having three girls. It is a test of my patience, but most of that was already happening with Miriam knowing everything now that she is in school and Elaine no caring what you say and doing whatever she wants all while smiling at you trying to butter you up! The house just won't stay clean! I need to spend more time on it but it is hard to get the desire when you have 2 hours in between feedings and want to spend it emailing, playing with older girls, sleeping, cleaning up the throw up from the baby and talking to Carlos. Carlos is so helpful and I feel very lucky to have him in the job position he is and also for the person he is. Having him here does make it a lot better for my nerves and I think that is why I am doing so well. He really is the greatest!
We have Nana and Papa here for Christmas this year and Sarah and Evoly are back. We are having fun and are looking forward to more fun as the next few days unfold! The weather is mild here and we are all (well me and Nana) wishing for snow!! It won't.... The girls are really excited to open presents and I think at this age where they are seeing all their friends toys and seeing toy commercials it is really hard to help them remember the reason for Christmas. We try to focus more on the Savior than on presents but it is hard for them to focus. We will work on it. :)
Carlos, Papa, and the girls made fudge and carmel yesterday. They are delicious. Tonight they are all at the zoo for the nativity and the chorale singing. They will have fun!
Well I just wanted to write something so you all would know I am here. I read blogs every day. I will soon post more pictures but I THINK we are sending out late Christmas/New Year cards so I don't want to post until then.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!

We're Home!

I don't really feel like getting into a long story yet, but we are finally home this evening. Laurie is still sleeping, time to feed her but... ;) They had to keep me at the hospital to take meds and now I am done. Now Laurie has an apt on Sunday for bilirubin and I have one on Monday for Potassium and Magnesium. Anyway, we are well now I am just nervous about the having two children constantly talking to me when I just want quiet ;)LOL. We are excited for our new adventure. Carlos has pictures and updates, so check out his blog if you want the scoop!

couldn't sleep and very thirsty!!

Well I couldn't sleep so I decided to get up early and post a quick blurb here. Last night I went to enrichment, it was our Christmas party and it was fun. My friend Kim offered and I accepted to take me to the hospital in the morning (6am) so Carlos could get Miriam on the bus and Elaine to a friends house before coming at about 745-8am. The girls will then be with friends for the rest of the day until Carlos goes to get them. It is so nice to have people around willing to help in emergencies...or in this case a friend put it, a 'planned emergency'. Anyway, I will let you know what goes on if I can, not sure about that. You may have to wait for Carlos to post or for me to get home! Well I am off to get ready! Gotta put on makeup today! :)LOL

Be careful what you wish for

I had my Dr appt today and I have been swelling a lot lately and my blood pressure was up. The Dr came in and told me that I would be having the baby a little sooner than I had thought. I thought this meant that I was ready for labor or he has some magical knowledge as to when I was going to go into labor but....what he said was, 'you won't need to stay or come in tonight but definitely tomorrow morning. You are full term and the fact that your BP is rising and you are swelling makes me think it would be a good time to go ahead and have the baby so you can get better. I will make a phone call to schedule. Don't eat after midnight and come in at 6 to the birthing center. See you tomorrow'....
I was in a bit of shock because he really didn't give me a choice, I hadn't talked to Carlos, and I just didn't expect that.... Then I got nervous. I had forgotten my cell phone today so I couldn't talk to Carlos until I got home. He wasn't there when I got home cause he decided to have a lunch date with Elaine ;) but we talked and have a lot of planning to do. Lots of cleaning to do today, planning, calling, trying to get someone to watch Elaine tomorrow and get Miriam on and off the bus! Then my next thought was 'I wish I had just one more day with just Elaine to make it special' and that made me sad. :( But I am sure we will all be excited, and even after I bring the baby home we can have times that are just the two of us! So... Anyway, I am going in to the hospital tomorrow and will be coming home on Friday... I will post more later!
p.s. both girls are really excited about me having the baby now!
**Oh and Sarah may I borrow your car seat for the ride home? We don't have another one yet ;) LANKS!!

progress

Well just thought I would update everyone on my progress. I went to the Dr today and they say I am on my way. At this point he leaves apts at 'I'll see you in a week, if not before!' so....
I am pretty swollen and was told today to try not to consume so much salt (normally not a problem), however, for my birthday I usually (this year is no exception) get chex mix made for me from Cindy and I HAVE to eat it so the salt thing is out the window!!! I have gained a LOT of weight but they don't seem too concerned, especially at this point. I however, am worried because I might reach the weight Carlos was when we got married before I have this baby. Lets all pray she isn't HUGE!!! And by huge I mean more than 7 lbs because so far that is the most I have had to deliver. So anyway, I am good, big, swollen (bp is fine), tired, and all of a sudden nervous about having another baby with more diapers to change!!! It has been about a year or more since we have had to do that!
Glad everyone had a good, safe Thanksgiving and hope you are all getting ready for the Christmas season! We are getting decorated early, otherwise...might not happen! :)

Surprise!

For those who don't know, Carlos and I are members of the Richmond Mormon Chorale and right now are practicing and getting ready for Christmas.
Our pianist, Meredith Carmichael is pregnant and due about 10 days before me. We are kind of hoping she has the baby early so she can actually play for us, we don't know what is going to happen but hope that we have someone to play when the concert comes around! :) Well last week we talked about having a little baby shower for her since she is having a boy for the first time. She also has two girls. So we got her gifts and brought food, but what I didn't know (but Carlos did) was that they were also planning on surprising me with a shower as well! It was so nice!!! I wasn't expecting anything since I am having another girl and really don't NEED anything. They had blue and pink plates, two piles of presents, and a cake and lots of other sweets! I made our cranberry pumpkin muffins and they were a big hit as well!! :) It was very nice to get some new things and to feel so much love from our chorale family!! We had a good time, I got red in the face and Miriam and I were excited to open and look at all the cute clothes. I will have to take pictures of them later and post. We forgot our camera. However, I am hoping that Katie Leake will post something since she had her camera! :) Both of us were given blankets that were embroidered 'Chorale Mascot 2007' It was sooo cute among the many other very cute clothes, diapers and wipes!! It was a wonderful surprise and a great night!
Now if we could just figure out how to get Meredith's baby to come....

Forgive me

I know I have nothing to complain about and that I SHOULDN'T be but...I am bored. I am sore and big so getting on the floor to do things with Elaine are painful cause I can't lean forward and when I stand up my back scolds me for ever being on the floor. I am so heavy that my feet hurt if I stand too long and I am just so stinkin tired. So Elaine is on the computer playing games that I am hoping are teaching her something. I would color with her but she doesn't want to, she doesn't want to read either but even when she does, I can only read one or two books before I start to fall asleep.... Everyone else is so busy that there is no one to chat with, and even if they were available I would feel guilty just sitting and talking all day.
So... I do dishes, rest, vacuum, rest, check my email (nothing), check blogs (sometimes something), watch Elaine play, resting, do a load of laundry, rest because I feel so sick I want to throw up, which occasionally I do.
I am sure that Carlos and I could think of more things for me to do, but doing them is another story....
I guess I am just anxious for the baby to come so that I have something that I HAVE to do, then I can feel so busy that I CAN'T complain about being bored.
And this is where every one says...Count your blessings. And you would be right! I shouldn't feel bored, I have many blessings and things to keep me busy... why am I bored!?
Maybe Catie-Lynn can shed some light on what to do when you are bored! :)

New calling

Well I guess I won't get a break from having a calling afterall. Oh actually I am not sure I wrote about it...anyway, I was released from the Primary presidency. Our president was asked to be the Stake Primary Pres so they did some reorganizing and felt good about releasing me from being first counselor and so did I. Partly because it was time I guess and also because I will be having the baby. So I thought maybe I wouldn't have a calling for a while. But it turns out that I still need to be doing something! They have asked me to be on the Enrichment commitee. Not a huge task but something to keep me thinking and involved. I am glad. I will help think of monthly/weekly activities for the ladies to do together. It will be good for me.
Well just so you know! :)
Carlos was also given a new calling so if you want to find out, look at his blog soon for his news! :)

today

Miriam is getting so big! Today at Wal-Mart she needed to go the bathroom and we got to the door and while trying to figure out who to ask to watch our cart, she said, 'I can go by myself.'
IN THE FLUSH BY ITSELF TOILETS AT WAL-MART!! ;)
If that doesn't mean anything to you, you have to know that she used to hold it forever just to avoid going in those toilets and fly off if it flushed on her!

By the way...

I'm still pregnant...I know that is obvious by the previous picture but I realize how little I have wrote about this pregnancy. And I haven't put any ultrasound pictures up. I really am happy and excited to be pregnant, really! :) I feel quite big but I also think I am not quite as big as I was with Elaine. I will have to find that picture and do a comparison. I was told that with every pregnancy the body gets more and more tired. Well I started out this pregnancy in such good shape (at least I thought) that I thought I wouldn't have problems. Well...I fell sometimes that my stomach is going to rip away from my ribs and that my back is going to break! It isn't all the time, only on days when I am on my feet a lot. Oh and that is also when I feel like I am walking on marshmallows!
I am trying to slow it down, I am always tired...except for today so far! Carlos went camping with the scouts and I had the girls sleep with me for fun, and we went to sleep at 9 and didn't wake up until 8!! Of course I got up several times during the night to go to the bathroom but still that is more sleep than I usually get without having to wake up!! It felt great! I am storing my energy for when I have to do more than just go to the bathroom when I wake up.
I am still used to waking up several times during the night because Elaine wakes up a lot and says she doesn't want to be sleeping. That is it! Poor thing, I wish she would understand she needs sleep!
Anyway, back to my pregnancy. I am so determined that I am having this baby before its due date that I am starting to get too anxious. I keep thinking I am farther along than I am. I know I am getting close but I almost feel like I should already have her! I need to just be more patient, after all, we still don't even have a definite name!
Ok well, maybe the reason I don't write anything is because there isn't much to write.... Feeling fine, nothing interesting going on. Elaine prays every night that the baby will come soon on Christmas. ;) She will definatly come before that! Even if we have to schedule something!!! ;)

Lainey's turn

Well It was Lainey's turn to get some dental fillings and they did it under general anesthesia. We got up early Friday morning and our friend, Tiffany Freeman came over at 5:50am to help get Miriam off to the bus because we had to leave at 6am to get Elaine to the hospital. Such a blessing to have friends willing to get up that early and come get your daughter off to school!

We drove to the hospital and Elaine was in good spirits, but getting very hungry!
We waited for about an hour and they called us back to her room where they took her vitals, talked to us about if she had eaten, and gave her new red socks and a koala just like Miriam's! She liked that!

Then some people came in to talk to us, after which the nurses came in and swooped her out with a quick goodbye and we waited... She didn't cry or whine, we had talked to her about what would happen and the ladies were so nice, she was fine!
Then about 30 maybe 40 min later, the dentist came out, she had 6 fillings (two more than expected) and a bravery award for not crying at all! We waited another 15 min and they called us back because she had woken up from anesthesia. This is the part I was nervous about because I fully expected her to scream for me or daddy when she woke up realizing she was not with us or at home, but when they came around the corner with her laying in the bed, she was quiet. Just staring off into la la land! No talking, not much moving just wide eyes! She didn't want to sleep, although she was really tired, she just layed there! ;)

So the nurse asked if I wanted to lay with her and as soon as I layed down she snuggled up and fell asleep! Typical Lainey. ;) She woke up a few times and after she had been awake for an hour they took out her IV and we were free to go!

She did such a good job! It was a good experience and she didn't get sick or complain of pain. As much as I wish we didn't have to pay for a outpatient hospital proceedure, I am glad we didn't have to hold her down for fillings in a dental office!

Pumpkin Patch

Miriam's Class (&Elaine with the teacher)
A beautiful pumpkin
In the maze

Happy Hayrider
Another funny hayrider
I found the perfect one! Its a little heavy!
Still searching....I'M STUCK!!

Yesterday Miriam's Kindergarten went to the Ashland Berry Farm to pick out a pumpkin from the patch. I couldn't be a chaperone because I had Elaine with me but we were allowed to follow behind the bus and go with them. Elaine was upset she couldn't be on the bus with Meenum but when we got there we had a good time. Elaine loves being with the older kids and they like her as well. Miriam had wanted me to be a chaperone but when we got there it took her a while before she wanted us to talk to her or touch her! Stinker!
They picked perfect pumpkins and we will carve them soon. We got a hay ride which was REALLY dusty (we have not had a lot of rain this year) and exciting for the kids. The farm had to irrigate from the river because of lack of rain. We haven't had a good rain since Aug, and nothing on the horizon!! ** Updated** Oh and they also did a little hay maze so there is a picture of that.

Discouraged

Want to go to Vienna and Singapore (again) can pick only one. Flights extremely expensive for a family of 4 (well 5 with new baby). Not looking good. Lottery anyone? ;)

Oh the size we can get!

Well this is all your gonna get! :) Miriam took the first one, Carlos the second! AND I STILL HAVE TWO MONTHS TO GO!!!

Hehe

Just a little cuteness to share while I am remember what it was.
Elaine found a bandaid and opened it. She came to me and said she needed some Booboo glue before she put the bandaid on. I guess she has decided to call Neosporin, booboo glue. :) LOL
She also is very excited for HER baby to come on Christmas and comments about it often :).

Sorry people!

Ok so there are so many things that I want to blog about that I just haven't done any of them. I know that sounds lame but if I started then I would want to spend hours on the computer and I just don't feel like doing that! So briefly:

Sarah, Evoly and Nana (mom) all left last week and it has been a little weird without them, keep expecting them to 'come back' from where ever they went ;) I also have to admit, however, that it has been nice being just my family. It wasn't too crowded with people here, but we all know it is just different living when you have company. Sarah was here so long, I don't know that I consider her company anymore, she is part of our family as well, but she had to move on, especially with the new baby! We miss them!

Miriam is doing well in school. She loves it and the teacher really likes her! I will start helping out in the class next week. And in Oct we will go to the pumpkin patch as a field trip. She is always happy to go to school but for some reason she gets really testy and whiny when she gets home. I struggle with that but am trying to be considerate and thoughtful because I think it stems from having so many rules, and other girls not being so nice to her at school. She just wants to be in a place where she makes the rules, and doesn't get in trouble no matter what she does or says...unfortunately that isn't here ;).

Elaine misses Miriam but is getting used to having some alone time with Mom and Dad (when he is working from home). She attacks Miriam when she gets off the bus and then they spend the rest of the afternoon eating and arguing about things. They are sisters!

I had my sugar test today and I know some might think I am weird, but I love the taste of the drink they give you! It tastes like a very sugary orange soda. Or maybe some pixie sticks in sprite! LOL Anyway, I just guzzle it and then I regret it cause it sits like a rock in my stomach! But anyway. I also had another ultrasound to look at the placenta to make sure it was back in the correct spot, I guess it was threatening to block the cervix! It is fine, and I had them confirm for me the gender of the baby and....it is still a girl!:) Now that I have that confirmation, I will go ahead with some purchases that I need! Sorry I don't have the pics up of the ultrasound, I don't have a scanner, I need to take pics of them and put them up but again, just another thing I forget about! :)

Alright, well I will let Carlos update people on his life in his own blog. He is doing well, getting in full swing with the political season coming up! He enjoys that.

Ok well until the next time!

WA wedding and other fun

My trip to WA was a nice one. Sort of stressful because I was traveling by myself with the girls, which would have been fine if I was not pregnant, tired, and crabby! ;) We got there and had a good time with family and friends. I got to go to Burgerville, the greatest place in the Northwest;). I got to visit with Nancy and her family. Then for the main even, everyone started arriving for George and Lynnette's wedding. It was a wonderful wedding and reception. Things went well and it was beautiful! Reception was also great. The food was exceptional and the announcer was just perfection (I will have to remember him for my next event :) )! Anyway, I am so happy for Lynnette and George and I know they will be very happy! George is the best brother in the world! Congratulations, and thank you for a great time while we were there!!!!
