Spring has sprung!

Spring weather came early this year and so I was thinking the the 'start' of spring would bring no surprises.... I was wrong! The day spring started was actually the coldest day we have had all week... Then the next day all of a sudden there were white blossoms everywhere! It was beautiful! There are so many big trees full of wonderful popcorn! (not that i like the way they smell but it is pretty!) I just love spring, all the flowers blooming and the trees turning green again. Wishes of snow are gone... UNTIL NEXT WINTER! Anyway, that's all, no poems, no spectacular words from me, just that it is turning pretty outside and it is wonderful!

OH and we got some free trees from the Henricopolis Soil and Water Conservation District on Friday and will plant two in our yard this week. One is a White Dogwood (Cornus florida), the other is a Red Bud (Cercis canadensis). I am really excited, the only problem is now finding a good place for them on our small lot! We will see!!

Congratulations Jar-Head! (Cookie, Red)

Today my heart is full and this is why...I have to say Congratulations to one of the best friends I ever had. And possibly the reason I liked high school as much as I did. Jared Cooke is getting married on April 7th to I am sure, the most wonderful girl, Nicole Wall. I am so happy, and excited! Oddly I am a little sad because I didn't keep better in touch with him. Why is it so hard to keep your friends of the opposite gender once you get married? But anyway, he is getting married and I am so happy and I am sure they are as well. She is marrying a really good guy. So congratulations, and I wish you the best with all the fullness of my heart! Have a wonderful life, friendship, and marriage together! Because I couldn't get my scanner to work, I had to take a picture of the picture, which is never very good, so I am sorry it is not a better picture!

"Lady Elaine" Martha Elaine Desrosiers

In May of 2003 Carlos, Miriam and I took a trip out to California to visit his best friend and also to visit Elaine Desrosiers. We had a great time getting to know her and kept in touch pretty well. Since we have moved to our new house, however, we haven't been so good at calling her. I emailed her several times and we talked that way. It was nice to hear from her.

After we had our second daughter, we named her and upon telling Elaine, she said that she was honored to share her name with our daughter and also that George Desrosiers would be happy with both her names. Elaine Margaret.

The last I heard, she was going back in chemo therapy for her cancer and she had good spirits as well, saying that it was not a big deal and she was fine. Well I have been meaning to call her for several months now, and just didn't. This morning I checked my email and mom found through familysearch.org that she passed away in Washington, on Jan 8, 2007. I guess I always thought there would be someone calling us, I guess I don't know who would have known to, so they didn't. I am sad.
I went through my archived videos and found this of her that we took while we were out here. I thought I would share this with all of you, maybe you have seen it but it is fun to listen to anyway. Enjoy! And remember we will all see eachother again someday!

Costa Rica Here we come!

We decided this week that we needed to make our plans to go to Costa Rica to visit Carlos' mom, dad and grandma soon, or it wouldn't happen for a long time. Soooooo, we booked our tickets today! We are going from May 2 to May 11. It should be fun. I still have these weird apprehensions especially since it was all done so quickly but it will be good!

inspiration

Ok so my friend Aubrey put a few pictures of herself in her beautiful dress on her blog and it inspired me to put these pictures I took of myself a few days ago. I had Miriam take some and then I went into their room and set the camera on thier 'kitchen' and took one of myself. I loved the outfit, mostly borrowed from Sarah, and thought I looked really cute, so I took them, and never posted them, but I AM NOW! :) Not the greatest but it shows my outfit!

Guessing Game!

Well every year in March Madness, I fill out a basketball bracket on Yahoo! and see how many points I get. One year I actually knew a little about who I was picking and who might win, but the last few years....it has been a fun guessing game! I think one year I even got more points than Carlos! Anyway, I filled it out again this year, and I have no idea who is good, so I just picked either teams that I know about or ones that were close to me geographically. I am surprised and pleased to say that three VA teams are in it this year!! Also BYU and Washington St. That is all pretty fun and interesting. So to all you who fill out the brackets also, BRING IT ON!! LOL ;) (p.s. if you want to join the group Carlos created, email me!)

At the hairdresser...

Miriam had me hold her hand and the lady did the best she could after my butcher job. And she told me that too! I wasn't really concentrating that much on where I was cutting, just the fact that I was cutting!! She did a great job!
She looks marvelous! (I know the bangs look crooked, but they are just laying funny, they look fine!)

Bravest Miriam!!

A few months ago, Miriam and I were watching the Today Show and some ladies on there cut thier hair and donated it to Locks Of Love. Well we kind of talked about it since then. Then lately we have been talking about cutting Miriam's hair and asked her if she would like to donate it. Well she has been very nervous and I have to admit that while I was pursuading her to do it, i was quite nervous as well. We decided today to just DO IT! We did! I cried... she loves it and looks so cute, and said she can't wait until her friends get to see her new look! What a cutie!! Good job Miriam, we are so proud of you, you are so brave and loving and your hair will go to someone who really needs it!

Here is a picture where you can see how long her hair was, it was so beautiful!!
Next is a picture of her afterwards. We will be going to the salon today to get it all straightened out and looking fabulous!! We also have a video that we will put on our blogs later!

Success!

Yesterday after much frustration and some tears, I was able to redeem miles for me and the girls to fly out to Portland in August!! The only bad part is that we have to fly out of Baltimore, MD which is about 3 hours north, through DC! It was the only nearby airport that had available tickets for all of us!! But I am happy, since we only had to pay $10 per ticket!! Hurray! See you all soon!!!
