Garden of Chacon

Today we finally picked out the veggies we wanted in our garden. We got Better Boy tomatoes, cucumbers, and red bell peppers! We put a net around it hoping that it will keep the rabbits from totally destroying them. I know it might not keep them out completely but.... We also have a strawberry plant that has a lot of blossoms on it so we are hoping for some there! Oh and Carlos planted some corn in little planters until they sprout and then we will try to transfer them into an area of the garden. Hope it all turns out well!
I also got some snapdragons and other flowers for a different area of the house. It looks better already! :) The iris is also looking nice.

Here it is people!

Miriam is offically registered for Kindergarten! I was a little happier yesterday when we ALL went to the school and looked around a little. Oh and when we found out that her mascot will be the Dolphin! :) She was really shy and I realized that the first day will be a harder separation than i thought. But EVERYONE keeps assuring me that she will be fine. I know she will, she is super smart....I think it is me and Elaine that will have the problem!!

Just something to post

We have been have some of the best weather lately. It has been a bit warm but we can handle it! It is preparing us for Costa Rica in ONE WEEK!!! Hurray!
Tomorrow we go and register Miriam for Kindergarten. I can't say I am excited. I think I am more nervous. I know she will like school, at least at first anyway. I hope it stays that way! I am not excited about her being gone all day. I think she is too young for that. But many many people go to school and are just fine so I am sure it will be ok....
Lets see...Oh, Sarah is getting more and more uncomfortable with her pregnancy. She starting to loose sleep. :( More tired etc. We are going to try to make her bed more comfy so she can at least try to sleep. She looks really cute, and I should have her put pictures up soon!
This Sunday will be the first of three Richmond Mormon Chorale concerts we are performing in. We are singing so many wonderful songs. We really enjoy being able to participate in it! We have long practices but it is good, and the girls do really well waiting for us. They just watch movies and run back and forth from the stage to the primary rooms! :)
Ok well that is all, I don't have much to say today but when I do, I will let you know!

What words can express...?

Yesterday I had planned a normal day and had much to do. About 11 in the morning, Sarah came to me saying that her show had been interrupted to announce there had been some shootings on Virginia Tech campus and that one was dead and 17 injured. For the rest of the day I couldn't keep my eyes off the TV or ears off the radio. The numbers of fatalities just kept going up and I just couldn't believe it. From 1 to 22 to 32 in a matter of hours! WOW! This news effected me more than any other news has. I don't know why, I don't know anyone there. Maybe because it is in my state. I don't know, but it just made me so sad, and at times sick to my stomach. I just prayed and thought about these people and how horrible this is. Miriam was getting upset by hearing all of this, she didn't understand. She didn't want to hear anymore about it. I remembered when I was young and the Challenger blew up and how my mom was watching it and she just sat there watching TV and crying. That is how I felt yesterday and today. It is something that I will remember.
I just wanted to write my feelings. I pray that Heavenly Father will bless and comfort the families of those lost and that we can not get angry but learn and pray and seek comfort. I have nothing else to say....

WII

We took a spontaneous trip to NC this week and the girls were the first in our family to try the Nintendo WII. I think they enjoyed it!

Also we went to a park and rode a train that was fun!
This is the view from the train ride. (above, Ana-Christine, Mary-Carmen, Tyson)
The girls had a great time and OF COURSE didn't want to leave! Miriam pretending to be asleep!

Easter pictures

We dyed our eggs on Thursday with Rose-Marie, Sarah, and Catie-Lynn.
Well we did our other 'Easter' stuff on Sat, and remembered the reason for Easter on Sunday...along with a meatloaf that I forgot to take a picture of. Here are our other pictures:

On Sat we had Leg of lamb with fresh herbs, asparagus and red potatoes with garlic and EVOO and strawberry-rhubarb crisp! It was all delicious! I think we have decided that Lamb will be our new Easter tradition!

Oh and we ate lots of candy! We also watched some of the Ten Commandments.

Sunday we watched the Testaments, ate more candy, and had a chicky shaped meatloaf, with salad! It was also delicious!!
Then it was time for Chorale. Only one more practice until the concerts!!

March Madness conclusion!

Carlos posted on his blog the details but...I WON!! hehehehe I have been ahead in the beginning before but never in the end. This year, I did it! Sometimes it is fun to win something, even if there is no prize or if you don't even know what you are doing! Thank you, thank you!

Monument 10K!

We ran in the Ukrop's Monument Ave 10K this Sat. We had a good time! The weather was great, we had good company and went at a good pace. It was much better than last years hot tiring run! I finished just about the same as last year. Carlos ran for the second time and did very well! I am a little sore but all in all, it was very rewarding and this time I actually feel like continuing to run, and even doing more races! (the medal around some of our necks is for participating in the YMCA training team)

After race pictured runners are: (in order of group picture)Emily, Carlos, Matt, Mara, Kim, Shelly
